About Nasal Obstruction

Nasal congestion and blockage is a common complaint amongst patients. Anything that hinders the airflow in and out of the nose and affects one or both nasal passages is considered an obstruction. Nasal congestion and blockage can be explained through four main causes: structural abnormalities, infection, allergic and nonallergic rhinitis. We treat all the underlying causes of nasal congestion and blockage including turbinate hypertrophy. Dr. Reddy specializes in all treatments for nasal obstruction including at-home treatments, in-office treatments and surgery.

Nasal Obstruction Treatment

Treatment for nasal obstruction can be determined based on the root cause and severity of the obstruction. Some at-home remedies may not resolve the obstruction. Dr. Reddy offers in-office and surgical solutions such as turbinate reduction or endoscopic sinus surgery. Nasal obstruction treatments can help alleviate nasal congestion and can help you breathe easier and improve your quality of life. Read more about the benefits of nose breathing.

Nasal Obstruction FAQs

Consider seeking medical care if you experience persistent breathing difficulties, chronic mouth breathing, regular sleep disruption, or if over-the-counter treatments aren’t providing relief. When nasal obstruction affects your quality of life, including sleep, exercise, or daily activities, it’s time to explore professional treatment options.

Treatment varies based on the underlying cause. Conservative options include nasal sprays, medications, and allergy management. For persistent cases, in-office procedures or surgical solutions like turbinate reduction or endoscopic sinus surgery may be recommended. Modern techniques allow for effective treatment with minimal recovery time.

What causes nasal obstruction?2025-01-27T10:29:59-06:00

Nasal obstruction can stem from several sources: structural abnormalities (like a deviated septum), chronic infections, allergies, or enlarged turbinates. Some cases involve multiple factors, which is why a thorough examination is essential for proper diagnosis and treatment planning.

Dr Reddy performed a sinus surgery as well as a valve procedure. Dr Reddy is incredibly knowledgeable and able to answer any question you may have. He performed the sinus surgery, and I didn't even need pain medication. The best way to describe it was a sensation similarly to being punched in the nose. Before the procedure took place Dr Reddy gave me his personal cell saying "if there are any issues, don't hesitate to reach out to me". You find that type of communication elsewhere!! Unexpectedly and no fault of Dr Reddy I had a serious nose bleed. I called the doctor at 9pm on a Friday and he answered and walked me through the next steps. WOW! Once that healed I had an in office valve procedure, that was completed in under 25 minutes. The recovery was super quick and easy. Simply put there needs to be more doctors like Reddy. I also had my 6 year old son see him for some ear issue. I have no congestion anymore and finally breath easy. Highly recommend!!!
